Impact Alaska desires to guide youth in rural Alaska through character; value and virtue based training to develop their minds, bodies and spirit. Providing ongoing support to mentor and coach young leaders to make healthy life choices, develop life-giving relationships, influence positive change and take the initiative to transform their communities. We foster connections among organizations and individuals that build leadership capacity with youth while respecting local culture.
We have teamed up with the Elders and Officials of the North Slope to create a week long camp that will instill virtues into teenagers from North Slope. We believe they have potential beyond what they currently see. Our goal is to restore their cultural virtues to the youth, while equipping them to be future leaders in their villages.
We bring volunteer college students from all over the lower 48 to team with us in running Impact Camp. These students are experts in different vocational fields and sports. They dedicate their week to training the youth of the North Slope in these different vocational skills and sports. During each of these teaching sessions, leadership skills and cultural virtues are instilled into the youth.
Our mission is to provide positive mentoring and relational connections to increase the success of Alaska Native students who are pursuing higher education.
We have formed a team that reaches out to any college student, but specifically Alaska Natives. The community we form assists them in adapting to the college and city environment. Instead of coming to college and adjusting to a new environment without knowing anyone, these college students will move to a community that cares about their school, and overall well-being.
